Role of Nutrition Support for Patients Receiving Radiation Therapy

Overview

This educational activity aims to deepen participants’ understanding of nutrition support strategies for patients undergoing radiation therapy. Learners will explore the nuances of managing nutrition impact symptoms across various cancers, including head/neck, gastrointestinal (GI), and pelvic. Evidence-based guidelines for optimizing nutrition intake and improving patient outcomes during cancer therapy.

Target Audience

This CME initiative was designed for oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, NPs, PAs, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of patients with cancer.

Learning Objectives

1. Discuss guidelines for nutrition support in management of patients receiving cancer treatment
2. Identify common nutrition impact symptoms in patients receiving radiation of the head/neck, GI, and pelvic region
3. Describe nutritional interventions for management of common nutrition impact symptoms to improve patient outcomes
