As part of the multidisciplinary team in the care of cancer patients, students, physicians, and other healthcare professionals involved in the management of cancer patients are also welcome to attend.

Industry Employee - $300+

Defined as anyone employed by a drug, device, or diagnostic company. The primary goal of the conference is to educate practicing clinicians on the latest advances and strategies in the care of cancer patients. Because space is limited and to ensure sufficient seats are available for clinicians, Industry Employees may register as an attendee only if you have a clinical title (NP, PharmD, MD, PA, etc).

Course Overview

The APP Oncology Summit is a two-day conference designed to provide advanced practice providers (APPs) with the latest evidence-based strategies to optimize care and outcomes for patients with cancer. This conference is planned with and for advanced practice providers (NPs, PAs, pharmacists, and nurse specialists) and is a collaborative effort of oncology clinicians from multiple organizations in each community. 

The APP Oncology Summit offers a unique opportunity for APPs from various healthcare teams in the community to collaborate, learn from each other and national faculty, and share best practices on a range of issues related to the care of cancer patients.

COVID-19 & Health Safety

In alignment with recent updates to national COVID-19 guidelines and mandates, APPOS will no longer be requiring attendees to wear masks or show proof of vaccination. Masks are still encouraged for those who are at higher risk from COVID-19, including those who are unvaccinated, or immunocompromised.

Please note, that we will continue to monitor CDC, state, and local guidelines, and will keep you informed of any additional changes or updates that may impact APPOS.

Faculty Speakers

Emily M. Adedugbe received her Bachelor’s of Science in Biochemistry from Olivet Nazarene University and her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the Ohio State University. She is an astute leader that is passionate about healthcare. She completed a PGY1 residency with Blanchard Valley Hospital and is currently pursuing a PGY2 to become an Oncology Clinical Pharmacist at Northside Hospital. Her versatile inpatient and outpatient experience equips her to address “Complementary & Alternative Medicine: Dangerous Drug Interactions and Treatment Modalities.” 

Emily’s expertise, gained from various roles, allows her to focus on patient education, chemotherapy order composition, and drug utilization interventions, with a background in research and leadership as PODEMOS Pharmacy President, making her a highly qualified speaker on dangerous drug interactions in Complementary and Alternative Medicine.

Dr. Brown is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University and a genitourinary medical oncologist. She attended medical school at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Virginia, followed by a chief resident year and a Hematology and Medical oncology fellowship at Emory University, where she served as chief fellow in her final year of training. She is a clinical investigator with special interests in urothelial cancer and improving the treatment of genitourinary cancers in older adults. She serves as the Associate Medical Director of the Ambulatory Infusion Center at Winship Cancer Institute and a Core Faculty member for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Emory.
CaTecia Godbee is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Georgia. Her concentration is in health and mental health. CaTecia currently works as an oncology clinical social worker at Georgia Cancer Specialist, for the last 3 years. She previously worked in the hospice industry as a licensed master level social worker for almost a decade. CaTecia’s professional interests includes serving populations dealing with grief, loss, life transitions, and mental health.  She has a special interest in oncology, as she has been a cancer survivor for over a decade. CaTecia believes that patients can benefit from a holistic approach to care, that includes all disciplines working together to provide the most individualized care for each patient. CaTecia takes pride in looking closely at the biopsychosocial, emotional, spiritual aspect of each patient as it helps to understand, serve and assist each patient with their needs, even if they do not recognize them on their own.
Jessica serves as the outpatient medical oncology APP lead at Winship Clifton campus. She has spent the last 5 years as a member of the GI oncology team, and recently started Winship’s Oncology Diagnostic Clinic. Jessica earned her PA degree from Emory University. In addition to her clinical practice, she is a part of the Emory APP Oncology Fellowship program as a didactic coordinator and preceptor.
Carrie Harper has been a nurse for 8 years with Georgia Cancer Specialists affiliated with Northside Hospital Cancer Institute. Carrie has worked as an infusion nurse and a staff nurse and currently works as a Care Coordinator Registered Nurse with Georgia Cancer Specialists. Carrie was awarded her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2014 from the University of South Alabama and her Master of Science in Nursing Education in 2021 from Walden University. She is an Oncology Certified Nurse ® and a member of the Metro Atlanta Oncology Nursing Society. Carrie has taught classes in cancer treatment modalities, as well as principles of chemotherapy and biotherapy for Northside Hospital’s Oncology Nurse Residency Program. She assisted with development of the Oncology 101 course in conjunction with Northside Hospital Oncology Services. Carrie is a native of Soso, Mississippi, and currently lives in Atlanta with her cat and dog. She enjoys running and bicycling on the Beltline and bird watching.
Maggie Harrington is the Associate Lead Advanced Practice Provider for the Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant (BMT) team at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. She specializes in malignant hematology and bone marrow transplant including the management of chronic graft versus host disease. Ms. Harrington lives in Tucker, GA with her husband and three daughters.
Belinda is a board-certified oncology pharmacist with more than 6 years of clinical experience. She is an inpatient and ambulatory hematology pharmacy specialist at Emory Winship Cancer Institute, the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Georgia. Her focus is leukemia and myeloproliferative neoplasms. Belinda is an involved member of the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA) and the National Community Oncology Dispensing Association (NCODA). She also serves as a peer reviewer for Journal of Hematology Oncology Pharmacy (JHOP). In addition, she is an adjunct professor at Mercer University College of Pharmacy in Atlanta and precepts pharmacy students and residents in oncology.
Dr. Olszanski, Vice-Chair of the Department of Hematology/Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, is the director of the Early Clinical Drug Development Phase I Program and co-director of the Melanoma and Skin Cancer Program. Dr. Olszanski completed his hematology and oncology fellowship and clinical pharmacology fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He is board-certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and clinical pharmacology. He focuses on the treatment of lung cancer and cutaneous malignancies with a focus on melanoma. He sits on the NCCN Melanoma guidelines panel and the Management of Immunotherapy-Related Toxicities. Dr. Olszanski serves as a mentor to numerous oncology fellows, internal medicine residents and colleagues. In addition to attracting a large number of sponsored Phase I trials, he has written, developed, and run (or served as a sub-investigator on) many investigator-initiated trials. Dr. Olszanski has served as the principal investigator on more than 50 trials.
Dr. Varun Phadke is a clinician-educator and Associate Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Emory University. He obtained his medical degree at Harvard Medical School, then completed his internal medicine residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University Medical Center, and his fellowship in infectious diseases at Emory University School of Medicine. He joined the faculty in 2017 and now practices both general and transplant infectious diseases. He is a passionate educator and works with many different levels of learner through various educational leadership roles, including serving as Associate Program Director of the Emory ID Fellowship Program, Core Clinical Faculty in the IM Residency Program, Clerkship Director of the M3 Core Internal Medicine Clerkship, and Director of the Microbiology Thread in the preclinical curriculum at the Emory University School of Medicine. Finally, he served as Chair of the Teaching and Learning Resources Workgroup within the Infectious Diseases Society of America Medical Education Community of Practice from 2021-2023, and was the inaugural Chair (and now Past Chair) of the Education Workgroup within the American Society of Transplantation ID Community of Practice.

Shanice Rice is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Georgia. Her area of concentration includes housing, health, and mental health. Currently, Shanice serves as an oncology clinical social worker at Georgia Cancer Specialists. She previously worked for the Veterans Administration as a housing liaison within the community, advocating for individuals with Severe and Persistent Mental Illnesses. Shanice’s professional interests includes community mental health, dual diagnosis and forensic populations, as well as the healthcare system. Shanice is a breast cancer survivor, making her role as an oncology social worker that much more fulfilling. Shanice also operates her own private practice, using her unique professional and personal experiences to make a positive impact in the lives of others therapeutically. Shanice’s psychodynamic approach encourages introspection, understanding, and awareness.

Shanice has a fervency for collaboration and understands that what impacts one, impacts all. Shanice’s passion for people highlights her ability to empathize as well as meet the needs of the whole person; physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.

Megan Sweet is a Physician Assistant who has spent her career in acute leukemia, stem cell transplant and cellular therapy for the past 16 years. She currently works at the inpatient BMT unit at Northside Hospital in Atlanta. She enjoys participating in research protocols within her program and has helped train new hires who wish to specialize in Hematology/BMT. Her special interests include leukemia, stem cell transplant, cellular therapy and graft versus host disease.
Samantha Trupp is a board-certified nurse practitioner in Atlanta, GA. She works at The Blood and Marrow Transplant Group of Georgia. After graduating from Auburn University in 2013, Samantha began her career as a registered nurse in oncology at Northside Hospital in solid tumor management. She then transitioned to BMT nursing in 2015. In 2019, she decided to pursue higher education and worked to obtain her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of North Georgia. Samantha graduated in 2022 and sat for boards and achieved her nurse practitioner certification. She transitioned to the role of nurse practitioner in blood cancer and BMT management in July 2022 and has not looked back.
Alexandra Tuuk is a Physician Assistant currently working at the Blood and Marrow Transplant Group of Georgia. She received her PA degree at Emory University School of Medicine and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2011. She practices at the outpatient clinic which also serves as a day hospital. Her scope of practice includes treating and caring for patients with acute leukemia and myeloproliferative diseases as well as multiple myeloma and a variety of lymphomas. Alexandra cares for patients undergoing both autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplants as well as CAR-T therapy and a variety of immunotherapies and chemotherapy. She provides long-term care for patients after allogeneic stem cell transplant including management of graft-vs-host-disease.
 
Prior to working at BMTGA, Alexandra practiced at a community hematology/oncology practice,  Northwest Georgia Oncology Centers, for seven years. She took care of patients with a wide range of hematology diseases, both benign and malignant, as well as solid tumor cancer. She performed bone marrow biopsies, consulted on patients in the hospital, and saw patients at the outpatient clinic for chemotherapy treatment and follow up.
Mark Zangardi is a Pharmacy Coordinator for Oncology Precision Medicine at OhioHealth in Columbus, OH. He also serves as the Residency Program Director for the PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency Program at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital. Dr. Zangardi earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, OH and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington, MA and a PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. Upon completion of residency training, Dr. Zangardi achieved board certification in oncology pharmacy. Dr. Zangardi also earned a Master of Science in Pharmacy with a concentration in Precision Medicine from the University of Florida.
