Beth Sandy, MSN, CRNP, is a thoracic oncology nurse practitioner at the University of Pennsylvania Abramson Cancer Center in Philadelphia. She is board certified as an adult nurse practitioner.

Her research focuses on issues arising in the management of patients with lung cancer, including chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting, dermatologic toxicities of targeted therapies, and supportive care. In addition to regularly presenting at several national and international nursing and thoracic oncology meetings on the topics of lung cancer and the supportive care needs of patients with lung cancer, she has published in peer-reviewed medical and nursing journals.

She serves on the Membership Committee of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, as an associate editor for the Journal of the Advanced Practitioner in Oncology, and is a member of the Advanced Practitioners Society of Hematology and Oncology.

Haleigh Mistry, MS, PA-C

Haleigh Mistry, MS, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant in the Department of Lymphoma/Myeloma at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. She graduated with a Master of Science degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, Calif. She has almost 9 years of experience working with hematology/oncology patients, specializing in lymphoma and multiple myeloma. She heads the Lymphoma Survivorship Clinic and sits on the Survivorship Steering Committee at MD Anderson. In addition to clinic work, Haleigh has numerous publications focusing on immunotherapy toxicities and has also given multiple lectures at various local conferences.

Laura Alwan, PharmD, BCOP

Seattle Cancer Care Alliance/University of Washington Medical Center

Laura Alwan, PharmD, BCOP, is a board-certified oncology clinical pharmacist at the University of Washington Medical Center and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance in Seattle. Dr. Alwan received her PharmD degree from Butler University in Indianapolis, Ind., completed her PGY-1 residency at Jewish Hospital/University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, and completed her PGY-2 residency at Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City. Dr. Alwan currently practices in the outpatient clinics with a focus in the women’s cancer clinics, the genitourinary clinic, and the melanoma clinic. Dr. Alwan enjoys the role of residency program director for the PGY-2 oncology pharmacy residency program and serves as a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network’s Hematopoietic Growth Factors Panel. Dr. Alwan’s other professional interests include teaching at the college of pharmacy, research and publication in drug toxicity management, and development of clinical services.

Kelly Goodwin

Kelly Goodwin, NP

Massachusetts General Hospital

Kelly Goodwin, NP, graduated from Harvard College in Cambridge, Mass., with an undergraduate degree in the History of Science before earning her Master of Science in Nursing at Yale School of Nursing in New Haven, Conn. She works as a nurse practitioner in the Center for Thoracic Cancers at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and serves as the co-director of ambulatory oncology advanced practice providers (APPs) for the Boston and Newton Wellesley Hospital disease centers. Kelly enjoys writing and speaking on various topics impacting patients with non-small cell lung cancer. She has participated in many clinical process improvement projects; she advocates for APP professional development through standardized onboarding and competencies and the creation of a monthly oncology APP education series. During the COVID-19 pandemic she designed, implemented, and staffed an APP-led ambulatory oncology urgent care clinic to provide centralized, consolidated care to oncology patients with suspected COVID-19 infections or known exposures and helped to organize and lead the hospital’s COVID-19 monoclonal antibody ambulatory unit.

Jenny Veliz-Urzua, DNP, MSN, FNP-BC

Jenny L. Veliz-Urzua, DNP, MSN, FNP-BC, is a nurse practitioner for GI Surgical-Oncology at Stanford Health Care Center in Stanford, Calif. She graduated with her Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Yale University School of Nursing in New Haven, Conn., in 2006. Her area of clinical practice includes hepatobiliary, pancreas, gastrointestinal and peritoneal malignancies. She has more than 15 years of experience in surgical oncology.

Victoria Nachar, PharmD, BCOP

Michigan Medicine Rogel Cancer Center/University of Michigan College of Pharmacy

Victoria Nachar, PharmD, BCOP, is a clinical pharmacist specialist in hematology at the Michigan Medicine Rogel Cancer Center and an adjunct clinical professor at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy in Ann Arbor, Mich. She completed her Doctor of Pharmacy at the University at Buffalo in Buffalo, N.Y., followed by residency training at the University of Michigan, and is a board-certified hematology/oncology pharmacist. She primarily cares for patients with malignant and benign hematological disorders. Her research focuses on improving clinical outcomes in hematology patients, oncology stewardship, and expanding the role of the oncology pharmacist. She is a recipient of the Hematology-Oncology Pharmacy Association Basic Science and Clinical Research Literature Award for her research efforts.

Ryan Beechinor, PharmD, BCOP

Ryan Beechinor, PharmD, BCOP, is originally from Boston, Mass., and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in Biochemistry. Dr. Beechinor received his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of California San Francisco. After completion of his PharmD, he went on to complete a PGY-1 General Practice Residency and PGY-2 Hematology/Oncology Residency at the UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, N.C. After completion of his residency, Dr. Beechinor completed a T32 Clinical Pharmacology Fellowship funded by the National Institutes of Health, which was co-sponsored by the UNC Eshleman School of Pharmacy and the Duke Clinical Research Institute (T32GM086330).

Carol Peyton Bryant, DNP, RN, ACNP, CCRN

Mayo Clinic

Carol Peyton Bryant, DNP, RN, ACNP, CCRN, serves as a nurse executive for the Hematology/Medical Oncology Division at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. Dr. Bryant’s current position supports advanced practice through the role of advanced practice provider (APP) supervisor. Her more than 30 years of nursing experience coupled with a Doctorate in Advanced Practice/Leadership further supports her passion of advocating for APPs and excellent patient care. Dr. Bryant has served as adjunct faculty for the ACNP program at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Ind., and recently served on the American Nurses Association for the 4th Edition of Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice. Dr. Bryant serves as a member of the Arizona Nurse editorial board.
