Pancreatic Cancer: Insights on Nutrition

Overview

Cancer and cancer therapy greatly impacts a patient’s nutrition. It is important for clinicians treating oncology patients to recognize and adequately manage or refer patients early to a dietician. Participants will discover the important role oncology dieticians play in the nutrition management of oncology patients, how pancreatic cancer impacts nutrition, and how to identify and treat exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI).
 

Target Audience

This CME initiative was designed for oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, NPs, PAs, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of patients with cancer.

Learning Objectives

1. Describe how pancreatic cancer can impact a patient’s nutrition
2. Discuss the importance of nutrition assessment and the role of a registered dietician (RD)
3. Recall promising nutrition interventions to help improve patient outcomes in pancreatic cancer
4. Identify and treat exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI)
